The President of Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), Alhaji Umar Dansuleka, said that the body had concluded plans to establish a regional market in Kano.
Dansuleka said at a news conference in Kano, on Wednesday, that the chamber was collaborating with the European Union and the World Bank on the project.
According to him, the chamber and the two international development partners had worked out modalities to ensure the success of the project.
He explained that the idea of a regional market, which would eliminate the existence of many markets in the city, was informed by the incessant market fire outbreaks and other problems.
He said that the proposed market would be established in line with global standard, with all the necessary facilities, adding that it would be like the ones in Lagos and Onitsha.
