Five weeks after he was abducted and an initial ransom deposit of N100 million paid, the Chairman of Comestar Transportation Company, Mr. James Uduji, was Tuesday released by his abductors.
Uduji was on September 12, 2015, abducted from FESTAC Town and his abductors demanded for a ransom of one million dollars (approximately N220 million) from his family.
It was gathered that the victim was kidnapped on a bad patch of road along 72 road junction, 7th Avenue Road, as he made to drive into his residence.
Although the family had initially paid N100 million, his abductors refused to release him until they coughed out the remaining N120 million, else they would kill him.
As at press time, it could not be confirmed if the family eventually paid the balance of N120 million demanded for by the kidnappers before Uduji was released.
Although he confirmed the victim’s release, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Offor, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said they were not aware if ransom was eventually paid.
Offor who clarified that the police played no role in Uduji’s eventual release, said they were only informed by the family that he has regained his freedom. Thisday
