Kwara State House of Assembly yesterday confirmed 10 Commissioners nominated and sent ti it by the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
They were confirmed and announced by the Speaker, Rt. Hon.Ali Ahmad at a plenary shortly after screening them by members that lasted over four hours on Tuesday.
The confirmed nominees were Alhaji Musa Yeketi from Asa Local Government Area; Alhaji Idris Garba, Baruteen Local Government, Otunba Taiwo Joseph, Ekiti; Aro Yahaya, Ifelodun and Alhaji Abdulrazaq Akorede from Ilorin East Local Government.
Others were Ayo Bolakale, Ilorin West; Kamaldeen Ajibade, Ilorin West; Ademola Banu, Irepodun; Alhaja Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe, Offa Local Government and Hajia Funmilayo Isiaka, Oniwa, the only female among them from Moro Local Government Area. The speaker, Hon. Ali Ahmad after confirmation directed the clerk to communicate the confirmation of the nominees to Governor Ahmed.
The 10 nominees hail from nine local government areas out of the existing 16 Local Government areas of the state and two of them represented Ilorin West where the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki hails from.
Expectedly, the premises of the Assembly was full of supporters of either the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC or the nominees which immediately turned to a celebration ground as several drummers, praise singers and street minstrels took over the premises.
Also during Tuesday plenary, the House approved the request of Governor Ahmed to secure N10 billion loan from two Commercial Banks in llorin to finance developmental projects in the state.
The House gave the approval after adopting a motion moved by the House Leader, Hon. Hassan Oyeleke.
The governor had earlier in a message communicated to the House and read by the Speaker said the the Central Bank of Nigeria asked the State to complete its infrastructural projects across the 16 local government areas.
