NGO, Iginla, Yesufu provide free cataract surgeries for Agbede community

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Africa Cataract and Eye Foundation in collaboration with Messrs. E.A Iginla and Bala Yesufu will embark on free eye care project for Agbede Community, Edo State of Nigeria.

This will include 100 Free Cataract Operations; 250 Free Reading Glasses; 500 Free Eye Check and Free Medications; 500 Free De-Worming Medications for School Children; 200 Free Glaucoma Screening and 200 Free Diabetic Screening.

This is the first in the series of Community Projects under the auspices of Late Alhaji Oga Momodu Yesufu Free Cataract Surgeries for Agbede Community.

In a statement jointly signed by the sponsors of this laudable community project, Messrs. E.A Iginla and Bala Yesufu, they opined that this initiative was to free the Agbede Community from cataract which is one of the leading causes of blindness in this part of Nigeria. “

“Patients diagnosed with having eye challenges would be subjected to surgeries and related treatments”, the statement continued.

The programme will hold at Agbede General Hospital from Tuesday 26th February to Sunday 3rd March 2019.

The Co-coordinator of the Program, Dr. Mejuya Okorodudu, stated that the objective of the program is not only to free the Agbede Community from Cataract and Glaucoma which are diseases of public health importance but also to seize the opportunity of this exercise to create public awareness for these irreversible diseases.
