Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi has stated that Nigeria’s football is down, but was confident the future of the game remains bright in the country.
Amokachi who like every other Nigerian football enthusiast was left reeling with shock after the Super Eagles slumped to a defeat in the hands of visiting Cranes of Uganda stated that Nigeria’s football will overcome the setbacks adding that winning the 2013 African Cup of Nations somehow restored faith and Nigerians should not lose hope of the team doing well in the future.
“We all know that our football has been going down over the years but Nigerians have always been behind us. Some have lost faith but then they came back and started supporting us when we won the 2013 AFCON and some have left Nigeria’s Eagles after not qualifying for the 2015 AFCON again.
“It is football but Nigeria is our country and our blood is green and white. We should come out and keep supporting the team because there is a bright future ahead of the team,” Amokachi said in Uyo.
He added that the coaches will continue to scout for talents from home and abroad to build a perfect team.
