The equities section of the Nigerian Exchanged closed on a positive note on Thursday.
At the close of trading, the market capitalisation of the listed equities appreciated by 0.18 per cent to close at N14.095tn, up from Wednesday’s close of N14.069tn.
The NSE All-Share Index was also up by 0.18 per cent to close at 42,686.58 basis points.
A review of the sectoral indices showed that the NSE Insurance Index was the day’s top performer. It rose by 1.56 per cent to close at 148.69 basis points.
The NSE Consumer Goods Index, however, declined the most as it shed 1.08 per cent to close at 1,044.44 basis points.
NPF Microfinance Bank Plc and Portland Paint and Products Plc were up by five per cent and 4.84 per cent to close at 84 kobo and N5.42 per share, respectively.
May and Baker Nigeria Plc and Mansard Insurance Plc were among the gainers. They rose by 4.79 per cent and 3.85 per cent to close at N1.75 and N2.70 per share in that order.
In contrast to Caverton, Eterna Plc led 34 stocks that recorded price depreciation on Thursday. It fell by 2.60 per cent or 12 kobo to close at N4.50 per share.
Sterling Bank Plc shed 2.56 per cent or six kobo to close at N2.28 per cent, while Ashaka Cement Plc was down by 1.75 per cent or 50 kobo to close at N28.15 per share.
Also, Beta Glass Company Plc and Mobil Nigeria Plc fell by 1.75 per cent and 1.64 per cent to close at N16.30 and N135.06 per share, while Vitafoam Plc declined by 1.41 or six kobo to close at N4.19 per share.
