Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra has called on the prominent sons and daughters of the state in diaspora to return and invest in the state.
Obiano made the call during the dedication of St. Barnabas Anglican Church at Isi-Achina in Aguata Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
He assured them that Anambra was safe and pointed out that adequate security was being put in place by the government.
The governor recalled that the donor of the new church building, Sir James Uduji, was once kidnapped in Lagos.
“Anambra is presently the safest state in Nigeria, come home and invest,’’ Obiano said.
Earlier in his homily, the Archbishop, Methodist and Primate of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, said: “We are grateful to have the governor of the state with us here today.
“He is a man, who has been chosen by the people to lead them and his good works are seen everywhere,” Okoh said
The primate stressed the need for the congregation to avoid the nationwide challenge of maintenance.
He further urged the worshippers to ensure that the modern edifice remained impeccable.
Also present at the event was Chief Victor Umeh, the APGA senatorial candidate for Anambra Central rerun election.
Others include senior government officials, Anglican bishops and Catholic priests. (NAN)
