Less than 24 hours after the inauguration of new caretaker committees for Adamawa and Ebonyi States chapters of the party, the Peoples Democratic Party National Working Committee has reversed itself and recalled the constituted caretaker committees.
National publicity secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh said it “ reviewed the state of the party in Adamawa and Ebonyi states in the light of the appeals and interventions of critical stakeholders together with remorse demonstrated by the executives.”
The reversal, it was gathered must have stemmed from a threat from 23 lawmakers in the state Assembly to dump the PDP for the APC if the sacked party executive was not reinstated.
On Adamawa, the party announced the suspension of Chief Joel Madaki and Barrister A. T. Shehu, Chairman and Secretary of the party.
The statement also announced the dissolution of the ward congresses in Lagos, Cross River and Oyo states and fixed Monday for a fresh congress in the respective states.
The statement further said “In the case of Cross River, all suspensions by the state chapter have been lifted and all members of the party in the state are now free to participate in all party activities including our congresses.”
