Following the shift in polls dates, the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council has resolved to begin another round of state-wide campaigns,
Our correspondent learnt that this was one of the decisions taken during a meeting the council members had with President Goodluck Jonathan at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
Apart from Jonathan, those who attended the meeting included Vice President Namadi Sambo; the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu; the National Deputy Chairman, Uche Secondus; the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu; and the Deputy Director-General of the Campaign Council, Taminu Turaki (SAN).
A council member, who attended the meeting, told our correspondent that the meeting resolved that the party should embark on another round of state campaigns because of the postponement.
He however said that unlike the just-concluded campaigns that took Jonathan and the party to about 35 states, only about 10 states would be visited during this round.
He added that although rallies would be held, the latest campaigns would be more of “penetration and consultations.”
The official said, “We have decided that we should go on another round of state campaigns because of the poll shift.
“Although rallies will be held, this new round of campaigns will be more of penetration and consultations.
“This one may include only about 10 states.”
None of those who attended the meeting spoke with journalists at the end of the parley.
When approached, Secondus claimed that Mu’azu would speak with journalists.
Sighting reporters, however, Mu’azu quickly entered his car.
