The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has expressed in the outcome of the bye-election for Jos/Bassa federal constituency, which held on Saturday.
In a statement yesterday, the party chairman, Malam Falalu Bello, stated:
We of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) thank God for sparing our lives to see this Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency bye-election that took place yesterday (February 26th, 2022) in good health. We also thank God for our Great Party, the PRP and its candidate, Honorable Muhammad Gwani Alkali OON in the election.
With results we have seen thus far our candidate, is obviously coasting to a well deserved victory due to his publicly acknowledged personal credentials and acceptability complemented by our PRP’s historic and legendary profile in Jos. We therefore call for calm and prayers by all our members and all of the good people of Plateau, in particular the Bassa/Jos North who have spoken with their votes.
While we await the final collation and announcement of results we wish to call on the INEC to ensure it proves itself as the truly “Independent” umpire that it is by a quick and fair declaration of the results. No underhand deals such as the late return of Bassa Local Government results should be allowed to besmirch and spoil the commendable and peaceful conduct of the bye-election which has generated a great deal of attention and interest in Plateau and indeed all over the country. INEC must not allow any misstep or manipulation that will deny whoever is the winner his victory, and we definetly expect it is PRP if the records thus far continue to trend.
Would next call on all PRP cadres, all PRP party men and women to remain calm and continue to be vigilant and prayerful. I also urge all the People of Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency to remain vigilant and ensure the peaceful conclusion of the process.
