Acting chairman of Kano Pillars football club, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, has assured the teeming fans of the relegated club that their darling team would soon return to the Nigerian topflight.
After they were deducted six points over breaches of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Framework and regulations, the former Nigerian champions couldn’t survive the relegation fight in the just concluded season.
The relegation of the illustrious club is no doubt a huge disappointment for their teeming fans who are unhappy that the ‘Masu gida’ boys have failed to justify the unflinching support from the government and people of the state.
However, in a recent interview, Galadima assured the disappointed fans that everything will be done to ensure that Kano Pillars immediately return to the NPFL where they rightly belong.
“We don’t want to talk about the circumstances of our relegation. That will come later. For now, as Muslims, we take solace in the fact that Allah has destined it to happen. We have taken it as God’s decision to test and try us.
“Pillars is not a team for Kano State alone. We have been receiving calls from our fans across the country expressing their sadness over what has happened.
“We tell them that in life, there are ups and downs. We once had our time when we won the title four times and the Aiteo Cup only three years back. We have dropped from the elite league but we hope and pray that sooner than later, we shall bounce back to where we should be.
“Kano Pillars is a brand that you can’t just wish away. Therefore, I want to assure everyone that God willing, in a couple of months, we would see Pillars back in the topflight,” he said.
Galadima also debunked the rumour making the rounds that Pillars are going to purchase the NPFL slot recently secured by Doma United of Gombe.
“I am not aware of it. Nobody has approached me that he wants to sell his slot to Kano Pillars and we have not approached anyone to sell his slot to us.
“The club is owned by the Kano State government. We are waiting to brief the government on the outcome of the 2022 NPFL season. It is the government that will direct us on the next line of action,” said Galadima.
