Reprieve came the way of the embattled NFF president Aminu Maigari, as the Minister of Sports and chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Tammy Danagogo, yesterday cleared him to return to his office following directives from World football governing body, FIFA.
Dabagogo who spoke in Abuja yesterday after holding a close door meeting with Maigari, stated that the NFF president has been asked to resume on Monday, adding that his return has laid to rest all problems in the nation’s football house.
Maigari was at the meeting with two NFF board members, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh and Ahmed Kawu. No member of the Mike Umeh-led group was in the team that visited the minister.
The minister disclosed that the decision became necessary following the advise from major football stakeholders, even before the letter from FIFA came fro Zurich.
“As a man, he has the right to run or not to. It is his decision to make. He also has the right to resign or not to. It is not the minister that would decide for him.
“He will resume on Monday and we expect that when he resumes, he will lead other members who are not present here back to my office,” the Minister said.
