A democracy support group in the United States of America has commended the Governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, for endorsing Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the People Democratic Party (PDP) consensus candidate in the forthcoming primaries leading up to the gubernatorial elections in 2015.
A statement by the Enugu Support Group stated that “the Coordinators wish to thank His Excellency, Governor Sullivan Iheanacho Chime and all Enugu State PDP Stakeholders, for making the right choice for continued progress in Enugu State by endorsing Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the PDP consensus Governorship candidate of Enugu State in 2015.”
“We have this confidence in you that you will follow in the footsteps of your predecessor, His Excellency, Governor Sullivan Iheanacho Chime. “
“We also believe that having worked so hard to be where you are today in the society, and having been in the public eye for such a long time, you have been tested and proven to be equal to the task and ready for this enormous task of becoming the next Governor of our great Enugu State. We thank you so much for even volunteering to serve your people”, the statement added.
The statement further stated that “we have no doubt that you will come out victorious and at the end of the race, the state flag and the baton of leadership will be placed in your hands. We want to assure you that the people of Enugu State are ready for you to lead them. We want you to know that you have our unflinching support”.
“The solid foundation has been laid for you by none other than our most performing Governor since the history of the State, Governor Sullivan Iheanacho Chime who not only transformed the State through his four point agenda but showed a very good example of what good governance is all about and yet remained humble and considers himself a servant of the people throughout his tenure”, the statement added.
The Group reiterated their gratitude to Governor Chime, “for being the best Ndi Enugu has ever seen. Thank you for being a man of vision, a man of the hour, the chosen one that God used to take us to the Promised Land, and for being the man that delivered on all his promises to Enugu people. You are also the one God used to save Ndi Enugu from the squandering of our resources since independence that left Ndi Enugu impoverished and destitute.”
