Five of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors met in Enugu yesterday amid ongoing crisis within the opposition party.
The aggrieved governors led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike also has Govs Okezie Ikpeazu, Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, in her fold.
Though details of the meeting remained sketchy, it may not be unconnected with the schism in the party following the controversial presidential party primary of May, 2022, which has snowballed into Ayu-must-go clamour.
Ayu, the party chair, has been accused of playing “partisan, partial and disgraceful” role in the exercise.
The Wike group has also asked Ayu to step down to ensure balance, justice and equity in the party’s executive leadership composition..
