State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Umar Jibop Bukkuyum, who disclosed this to Vanguard in Gusau, said a seven man committee to be headed by the state governor, Alh Abdulaziz Yari had been constituted to ensure the full implementation of TSA.
Advancing reasons, why the state government decided to introduce the single account, Bukkuyum said the state government had discovered over 1,000 accounts being operated by government agencies with one dormant account having about N80 million.
The commissioner disclosed that the committee had met with all the bank managers in the state on the need to have all government accounts in their respective banks closed.
Bukkuyum maintained that the new initiative will afford the government the opportunity to know exactly how much is coming into government coffers, as before this time, “we didn’t know how much the state was generating.”
