Ahead of 2019 governorship election, the people of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State have unanimously endorsed the Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, for second term.
This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the Planning Committee and former Minister of Environment, Chief John Odey, while announcing a slight change in date for Yala Local Government rally/endorsement of the governor.
According to the new announcement, the date now is Thursday February 22, 2018, due to the Cross River Central Senatorial rally scheduled to hold on Friday, February 23, which needs massive attendance and support from other parts of the state including Yala LGA.
*According to the announcer Sir John Odo (Ksji) who is Spacial Assistant to the Governor on ICT and Chairman of the Media Committee, the statement reads in part: “I have been directed thus; final date for Yala Local Government Rally/ Endorsement for our Supersonic Governor, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade (2019).*
“This is based on the fact that the central senatorial rally holds on Friday 23rd and our Digital Governor has directed that we give them the needed support.
“Hence, the reason for this change of date from Friday 23rd to Thursday 22nd February, 2018. We regret any inconvenience this would cause us all. While we anticipate the best turnout from all.”
Meanwhile, the Cross River North Senatorial district will hold its endorsement and rally on Saturday, February 24, 2018, for the governor’s re-election in 2019 governorship election.
In a related development, the Yala Political Forum (YPF), has also endorsed the governor for second term. The group said based on its critical analysis and observation on the governor’s performance and achievement he deserves re-election by the good and great people of Cross River State.
It also promised to sensitise the people of the grassroots and ensure there will be a free and credible election. Therefore called on the people who are yet to get their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to go to the designated centres by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and follow the process to get their PVC before the closing date.
The group also called on the youth not to allow themselves to be used by politicians who does not mean well for them, but should maintain peace and discipline before, during and after the election.
