…APC victory will be short-lived, says Saraki
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC).
The meeting holding at WADATA plaza in Abuja, began with party chairman Uche Secondus, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker House of Reps Yakubu Dogara and other party stalwarts in attendance.
On the agenda is the supplementary elections slated for Saturday.
The party chairman accused the INEC Chairman and security agencies of being tools of the APC to “suppress the will of the people”.
He also noted that the concept of inconclusive elections is a term coined by INEC and the APC to stop PDP from winning elections.
Secondus also accused the INEC Chairman of delaying the democratic process and overheating the polity.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, added that the victory of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) at the presidential poll will be short-lived.
Saraki explained that contrary to the opinion in certain quarters, the outcome of the March 9 presidential election was a loss to the entire country.
“This victory that the other party has seen is going to be short-lived. If anybody believes it is a loss to PDP, it is a loss to the country that history will not forgive. We said it many times here, that the worst thing to do is to conduct an election that, as a country, Nigeria would not be proud of. We have conducted an election that, no doubt, anybody and even those who think they have won are ashamed of the kind of election that we conducted.
“I think it is a shame to the country and to those that were given that responsibility to do. They have Saturday as their last opportunity to try as much as possible to reclaim part of their embarrassment to the country.
“How can a country like Nigeria, as the speaker said, ‘Ghana has done it, Congo, even Zimbabwe have done elections,’ and we say we do elections, with seven being inconclusive. We did elections in 2011, we did it in 2015, and, after so many years, this is what we can produce? It is not a loss to the PDP, it is to the country, it just shows the level of desperation…
“I have confidence that this will be short-lived and as such let us ensure on Saturday, that these fives states that are ours remain within the PDP and INEC should, for once, do what is right.”
