The House of Representatives Thursday urged the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to tackle the lingering leadership crisis within its cadre, In a desperate bid to forestall the further escalation of fuel scarcity in the country,
Prompted by a motion on matters of urgent national importance moved by Hon. Dakuku Peterside (APC,Rivers), notifying members of the need to intervene in order to save the public from bearing the brunt of the crisis, the Speaker, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal appealed to Peterside, who is also a petroleum marketer, to focus on the implications of the crisis since the matter has been taken to court.
Tambuwal, therefore, ruled that the legal aspect of the issue be excised from Peterside’s prayers. By so doing, the House Committee on Justice was relieved of playing any intervention role. In its place, Hon. Eddy Mbadiwe, (PDP, Imo), who moved for the amendment proposed the inclusion of the House Committee on Labour to take part in the intervention process. – Thisday.
