The Governing Council of the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, Friday approved the appointment of Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, as the new Vice Chancellor of the University.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the 127th meeting of the Council Friday, Pro-Chancellor of the University and Chairman of the Council, Dr. George Egabor, said the appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu.
According to him, the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor takes effect from July 16, 2014.
The Pro-Chancellor explained that the new Vice Chancellor got the highest score out of eight candidates that interacted with the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board for the appointment of Vice Chancellor.
