Enugu Union in South Africa drums support for Ugwuanyi’s administration

The Enugu State Union in South Africa has reiterated its determination to assist the state government deliver good governance to the people.
The Chairman of the union, Mr Oliver Ekesi, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Achi, Enugu State, that it would invite Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to its 20th anniversary in September as part of the stepts.
“ As a body, we have contributed in our small way in assisting the government to deliver good governance and democracy dividends to our people.
“We want to restate our commitment and desire to do more for our state. Enugu indigenes in South Africa will assist our government in areas like agriculture, education, information and communication technology,” he said.
Ekesi said the union’s executives had commenced preparations to mark the event and would visit the state to consolidate on arrangements.
He also warned provincial chapters of the union not to breach the arrangements already in place by its national body to host the event.
“We are aware that some provincial chapters of the union want to go ahead and celebrate the anniversary ahead of the national body.
“It is not proper because it is like dividing our house. Nobody should divide the family because we are working to achieve the same objectives.
“The national body is already in touch with government officials and it will be improper for any provincial chapter to do the same thing,” he said.
Ekesi said the development of Enugu and its people should be uppermost in the minds of all the members.
“To celebrate our 20th anniversary collectively is a thing of joy and we want to use the opportunity to provide more assistance to our state.
“Our people deserve the best, so, we are willing to partner with our state government to deliver good governance to our people,” he said. (NAN).
