Minorities Movement commends Pres. Buhari on IGP appointment

The Minorities Unity Movement (MUM) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the appointment of Ibrahim Idris Kpotum, a Nupe from Niger State as the acting Inspector General of Police.
In a statement signed by MUM’s founder, Jacob Onjewu Dickson, the movement described the decision as one that would further unite the country.
“This appointment which is well deserved, will further unite our country because it has been observed that without the minorities cementing the union, the ‘big three’ would have always been at each other’s throats.
“Nigeria as it stands today is inhabited by several ‘minority’ ethnic groups which can be found in all the geo-political zones of the country. President Buhari did well by replacing the out-gone IG who is also a minority, with another minority, for which we are happy,” the statement said.
It further called on all Nigerians to cooperate with the new IGP in ensuring that Nigeria is safe for all citizens to live and conduct their businesses.
“We would still appeal to Mr. President to explore an option of dialogue with our militant brothers from the South-South who are almost bringing the country to its knees through activities that have resulted to low crude sale and worsened the power situation in the country,” it appealed.
The statement also called on all Nigerians to embrace peaceful means of agitation as violence would never result to a desired win-win end result.
“We appeal to our three big brothers; Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba to always remember that together with the minorities, we can make the black race one to be reckoned with but if we as a nation fail, the black race may never be able to be leaders of this modern world. Once again, we commend Mr. President because this appointment shows that we are all stakeholders in the Nigeria project and the country belongs to all of us,” it submitted.
