Access Bank Plc reported in its interim financial statements for the period ended June 30, 2021 that its profit before tax grew by 31.21 per cent to N97.50bn from N74.31bn in the corresponding period of 2020.
The bank recorded gross earnings of N450.62bn for the first half of the year, a 13.58 per cent increase from N396.77bn in H1 2020.
Its interest income rose by 31.91 per cent from N211.99bn 2020 to N279.64bn, while its earnings per share increased by 43.35 per cent year-on-year from N1.73 to N2.48.
The bank’s balance sheet showed that deposits from customers grew marginally by 6.39 per cent to N5.97tn in H1 2021 from N5.59tn in the corresponding period of 2020.
Access also saw its total equity grow by 3.25 per cent y-o-y to N775.43bn in H1 2021. Its cash and cash equivalents jumped by 119.07 per cent from N612.31bn in H1 2020 to N1.34tn H1 2021.
“An interim dividend of 30 kobo for every share of 50 kobo, subject to appropriate withholding tax will be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the register of members as at the close of business on Thursday, September 16, 2021,” a statement signed by the bank’s Company Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, said.
