Four senior police officers, among whom was the Commander of the Anti-bomb squad of the Adamawa police command, were killed on Thursday in a bomb explosion, which occurred at the Jimeta Divisional Police Headquarters, in Yola, the Adamawa State.
The blast was said to have occurred at about 11:44 am Thursday when some of undisclosed bombs seized from terrorists suddenly went off. It was gathered that the piles of bombs were affected by the heat wave where they were kept in the armoury
The blast shattered the windows and doors of houses in the entire neighborhood while, many buildings were rocked to their foundation.
The blast also caused panic around the area especially at the Central Primary School, directly opposite the police station, where pupils were attending classes at the time of the explosion
The Adamawa State commissioner of Police Mr Gazali Mohammed confirmed the incident.
Mohammed, who visited the scene confirmed that four police officers were killed in the blast.
The CP said the bombs were taken from Boko Haram terrorists and kept at the Police bomb amoury of Anti-Bomb unit.
The CP also confirmed that several persons have been injured and they have been rushed to the hospital for treatment

Sources within the police said there are several large bombs at the Anti-Bomb Squad unit which have been kept away from terrorists but the devastating heat wave in Yola made the bomb to go off. – Vanguard.
