Ebonyi State All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Chief Ifeanyi Ekene, has expressed delight at the news of the swearing in of the former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Ehigiator Arase, NPM,FDC,CFR, as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
According to the APC chieftain, “the very disciplined former IGP, who was a trail-blazing officer and a gentleman, will drive a new course , in the complex melliu of the disciplinary spectrum of the Nigeria Police Force, which only the bold and fearless dares”.
Chief Ekene lauded the former IGP’s ground-breaking innovations in the Nigeria Police Force as IGP, which included the creation of the Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU) – an online, real-time ‘Police of the Police’ that tracks any police activity any where in Nigeria in minutes; the establishment of the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU), which was the precursor to phone and laptop tracking as part of police investigations.
Chief Ekene added that Arase instituted the querying and investigation of commercial and contractual transactions, ensuring respect for fundamental human rights in police business and also established the Police Gender Unit.
The APC Chieftain prayed God to give the former police boss wisdom to oversee the complex leadership matrix of the commission, which he said “is cardinal in bringing about proper conduct in police operations in Nigeria.”
Chief Ekene extolled the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba Akali, for the progressive impact he had had on the police force.
The APC chieftain also saluted the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for making Nigeria a better and more secure country.
He also rejoiced with his “brother and friend, President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his victory at the just-concluded 2023 presidential poll.”
Chief Ekene saluted his “brother and friend, Mr. Francis Mwifuru, for his emergence as the elected Governor of Ebonyi State”, adding that he was optimistic Mr. Francis would steer the state to greater heights just as the outgoing Governor, His Excellency Dave Umahi, had done.
He also commended his friends, Governors Nyesom Wike, Godwin Obaseki and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
