An All Progressive Congress (APC) Chieftain, Mr. Adeyimika Fredrick-Famuyiwa, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Democracy Day speech on June 12.
In a statement on Monday, Famuyiwa described the broadcast as “a renewed sense of hope and optimism for Nigeria”.
The APC chieftain opined that the nation was pregnant with hope but expressed optimism that the latest democratic dispensation would not be another still birth.
“For too long the Nigerian people have endured. We have kept faith when promises made by successive governments did not materialise”, Famuyiwa stated.
The APC Chieftain added that, “the Nigerian people will stand behind President Tinubu as he is truly committed to his oath of office.”
Famuyiwa however urged President Tinubu to appoint competent and incorruptible people into office who will assist him to realize his noble objectives.
With the Democracy Day in mind, Famuyiwa reminisced that although the late Chief M.K.O Abiola fought for democracy, he did not get justice.
He however expressed satisfaction that the antecedents of late Chief Abiola made it possible for Nigerians to obtain justice through democracy and rule of law.
“I want to also seize this opportunity to salute his Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), my brother and friend, Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, and Nigerians in general and I wish everyone a “Happy Democracy Day”, the statement added.
