The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Friday said his cabinet would be ready before May 29, 2019 if he was elected into office next year.
In his twitter handle, Atiku stated, “If Nigerians elect me as their President, I will not take six months before naming my cabinet. My cabinet will be ready before May 29, 2019, if by the grace of God, you elect me. Our country needs a decisive leader to get Nigeria working again.” #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain.”
It should be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari named only 21 members of his cabinet more than six months after he was sworn into office on May 29, 2015.
Nicknamed “Baba Go Slow” by Nigerians, a play on Lagos’s chaotic traffic, Buhari struggled to fill the entire 36 cabinet positions.
The initial list of 21 new ministers included several state governors and representatives from each of Nigeria’s regions, but only three women.
The entire 36 ministers were sworn-in by Buhari on November 11, 2015.
