Bala Yesufu emerges President of Etsako Club 81

Dr Yesufu, Chief Consultant at Charles Consulting and Management Services Limited, was elected President of Etsako Club ’81 on Sunday 12th December 2021.

Etsako Club 81 is a socio-cultural, non-political, non-profit, non-governmental organisation formed in 1981 by prominent sons and daughters of Etsako descent living in Lagos.

The need to form this club was borne out of the perceived marginalisation of Etsako origin working in Federal establishments.

In his acceptance speech, the prolific writer who has served the club for decades promised to sustain the goals and vision of the club.

Dr Yesufu, who noted that he would not work alone, assured that he and the newly elected team would work hand-in-hand with the Edo state government in particular and the federal government of Nigeria at large.

According to him, the focus of his administration will be to add value to the “vision of our founding fathers and the legacies of our past leaders.”

He said, ” My team will sustain the momentum of our advocacy in all ramifications to foster the improvement of the lives of our people. We will work in close collaboration with Edo State Government, in particular, the Federal Government and its Agencies (If need be), Development Partners, Traditional Institutions, Local Governments, to mention a few.”

He lauded his predecessor,  Dr Mamudu Dako and his executives and described the team as personalities of great mind who served the Etsako club meritoriously through the pandemic.

“Challenges brought by the Covid-19 Pandemic, but the Team’s passion, dedication and can-do spirit culminated in the huge success recorded.”

He promised to “continue with the ongoing projects and other laudable initiatives by the last EXCO. As he joins the league of Past Presidents and Elders of the Club, I am very confident that we will draw from his rich reservoir of experience.”

Chief (Dr.) Bala Yesufu is a graduate of the University of Lagos and holds an MBA from the Lagos State University, Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a Doctor of Science Honorary Causa in Management and Corporate Governance from the European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominica.

He worked variously at Portland Paints and Products Nigeria Limited as Area Sales Manager for the North East Region; K.M. International, Manufacturers of Kessingsheen Cosmetics and Beauty Products as General Manager and Nigerian Breweries Plc (a part of Heineken International N.V), as Export Manager and later First Heineken Brand Manager, culminating in a Public and Government Affairs role as Public Affairs Manager in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

He joined Cadbury Nigeria Plc (a subsidiary of Mondelēz International) in June 2013 as Director, Corporate and Government Affairs, West Africa, and a member of Cadbury West Africa Leadership Team.

Bala is currently the Chief Consultant at Charles Consulting and Management Services Limited. He has a rich pedigree in Export Operations, Sales and Marketing, Corporate and Government Affairs, and General Management garnered over three decades in West Africa across a range of industries, including Cement and Decorative Paints, Cosmetics and Beauty Products and Fast Moving Consumer Goods.

Bala is a prolific writer and author of the Book; Export Architecture Roadmap: The Nigerian and Global Perspectives – a book principally to guide Policy formulation and Execution in the Non-Oil Export Space.

Bala, at one time or the other, held the following positions:
• Chairman, Awareness and Publicity Committee of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Promotion Group.
• Vice Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Sweets and Confectioneries Group.
• Treasurer, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Promotion Group
• Resource Board Member, Nigeria Tennis Federation.
• Chairman (other African Countries), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Promotion Group.
He is a Past Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 9110 Nigeria, Paul Harris Fellow, and Major Donor to Rotary International Foundation.
