Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has described the rumour of his impeachment as baseless and without an iota of truth.
Ortom stated this yesterday in reaction to media speculations that the state House of Assembly had sat to consider impeaching him.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and ICT, Tahav Agerzua, the governor said the speculation, which came in the wake of another lie that he was about to dissolve the 23 councils in the state, was unfounded.
“From the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it is impracticable for any House of Assembly to impeach a governor in one day. According to constitutional provisions, the processes leading to the impeachment of a governor take not less than three months to consummate,” he said.
