The Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime, has called for promotion of peace, tolerance, brotherhood and unity among all Nigerians.
The governor made the call in a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chukwudi Achife, to mark the Eid-el-fitri celebrations.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-fitri with our Muslim brothers, we must urge ourselves to use this occasion to re-dedicate ourselves to values and virtues that promote love, tolerance, brotherhood and unity among all Nigerians,” the governor said.
Chime also urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention in the security challenges facing the nation.
He equally congratulated Muslims in the country on the successful conclusion of Ramadan fast, which he described as “a period of purification and deep reflections on God’s eternal love and compassion for mankind.”
The governor noted that such reflections “would help Nigerians understand why they should respect each others’ rights, especially the right to life and the right to enjoy peaceful co-existence with their neighbours.”
Chime thanked Muslims in Enugu State for their support for his administration and assured that the government would continue to invest in security and infrastructural development for the benefit of all residents.
