The management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that government’s directive closing all schools and public offices in Abuja between today and Friday for the World Economic Forum does not affect operations at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and all other airports in the country.
Normal flight operations would continue to take place at all airports, as scheduled, throughout the period of the forum, FAAN stated.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the aviation agencies, Yakubu Dati, on Tuesday evening, the announcement was meant to put the records straight as regards the news making the rounds that the Abuja airport would be closed from today.
“We are constrained to issue this release, in view of possible misconception in some quarters that the Abuja Airport, being a public utility, is affected by the closure order.
“We also wish to assure all passengers and other airport users that adequate security and operational arrangements have been put in place at all our airports, to ensure hitch-free passenger facilitation during and after the World Economic Forum,” Dati added.
