Enugu State Commissioner for Environment, Ambassador Fidel Ayogu and
the Transition Committee chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Comrade Uwakwe Ezeja have commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for executing monumental grassroot development projects in the council area.
Both spoke when some newsmen visited the local government for an on-the-spot assessment of some development projects at the council area.
While speaking on the ongoing development projects in the council area, Ambassador Ayogu said Gov. Ugwuanyi has provided most of the basic needs of the people of the local government, adding that there are rural electrification, water and road projects being executed simultaneously in his home country, Umuopu, a community in the council area.
“There are up to six rural electrification projects in Igbo-Eze North Local Government courtesy of the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The work is almost completed. What they are doing now is earthing, after which it would be switched on. Electrification work is also ongoing at Olido, Aguibeje, Umuida and so forth.
“There is also a finished water project here by the same Enugu State Government within the short period of this regime, and the same government has revalidated the contract for the construction of
Ogrute-Igogoro-Amachalla-Ugbaike-Obollo Afor road, all in this Local Government Area. He is providing all our basic needs”, he said.
While responding to questions from the reporters, the chairman of the council area, Comrade Ezeja said the rural electrification and other grass root development projects in his council area would encourage the youth to take up entrepreneurial engagements which would boost the economy of the people.
He informed that there are 119 primary schools under reconstruction in his council area by this administration, a gesture, which according to him, has salvaged a situation where pupils took classes under mango trees in the past in some locations.
He described as miraculous how the state governor manages to carryout monumental projects across the nooks and crannies of the state while also paying workers’ salaries and pensions in this period of national economic crunch.
While expressing her gratitude to the state governor for constructing a classroom block for her school, the Head Mistress of Community Primary School, Olido, also in the same council area, Mrs. Margaret
Ogbonna, said pupils’ population have increased by 30 percent since the facility was put into use.
Mr. Gabriel Odu and John Abugu both of Olido equally commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for rural electrification work aggressively going on in their community.
