Lagos-based Nollywood film-maker, Seun Egbegbe, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing nine pieces of iphone.
Trouble started for Seun who pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of stealing, when he went to Computer Village and requested for the phones.
It was gathered that while the sales girl was trying to calculate the items requested for by Seun, a former boyfriend to Nollywood actress and social media celebrity, Toyin Aimakhu, he allegedly ran out of the shop with the iphones and tried to board a waiting vehicle.
The salesgirl allegedly raised the alarm which attracted other traders in the market.
Consequently, Seun was allegedly caught and beaten to a pulp before the police intervened and rescued him.
The presiding Magistrate Aje Afunwa granted Seun bail of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in Kirikiri pending when he would fulfill his bail conditions.
A mild drama however, played out outside the court as Seun’s supporters threatened to beat up any journalist if they dare take the accused pictures.
It took the intervention of the police and court orderlies who sent the rowdy mob out of the court premises.
While journalists waited to take Seun’s picture, his family members colluded with prison warders who sneaked him out of the court premises through the back door into a waiting prison vehicle.
