Court remands Jonah Jang in custody

Justice Daniel Longji of the Jos High Court has remanded former governor of Plateau State, Jonah David Jang to prison custody.

Justice Longji had denied a bail application by Jang through his lawyer Robert Clarke (SAN) and adjourned to Thursday 24th May for a bench ruling on bail.

Jang was arraigned on a 12 count charge of alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion before he vacated office.

The now Senator representing Plateau North was arraigned alongside Yusuf Pam, a one-time cashier in the office of the Secretary to the State Government who allegedly embezzled N11million.

When the charges were read, Jang and Pam pleaded not guilty

Former Governor of Plateau State arrived the court premises in a white Toyota Hiace bus.

Security was tight in and around the court premises as supporters of the accused, mainly from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and those celebrating his arraignment, from the All Progressives Congress, APC hang at the major entrances of the court with placards.
