President Dangote Group Alhaji Aliko Dangote has awarded scholarships to eight pupils of James Hope College in Agbor, Delta State.
Dangote, foremost cement producer and the 23rd richest man in the world, who accompanied the Founder of James Hope College, Mr. Jim Ovia, to the school, said the scholarships would cover their duration in school.
He urged the pupils to use the school’s world-class facilities to excel.
Ovia praised Dangote for his support, adding that they were on a motivation and inspiration visit to the school to assure the students that they can be whatever they want to be in life if they work hard.
He said: “James Hope College is not a school for the rich, but a full school that could give opportunities to those who do not have the resources to afford quality education.
“They would be allowed to enjoy some scholarship programmes. This means that a little boy, or girl from a less-privileged home can join those who have the resources in a high standard education in James Hope College.
“The pupils will be given scholarships to study in the school, if they are brilliant. At least, about 35 per cent of the students will have one form of scholarship or the other; it’s either full scholarship, or partial scholarship,” he explained.
