Four million users have registered on the Diamond Bank mobile app, according to the CWG Plc, an information and computer technology company.
The CWG designed and built the app tagged the Diamond Y’ello Account for Diamond bank, in partnership with MTN in 2014.
A statement by the firm quoted its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. James Agada, as saying that the DYA was designed to enable MTN subscribers to enjoy banking services from Diamond Bank using their mobile phones within the confines of their varying locations, adding that it deliberately targeted 45 per cent unbanked and under-banked population in Nigeria.
He said, “Today, we are happy to inform Nigerians that one of our locally built technology solutions, the DYA, has made significant progress in the banking industry; with over four million users presently using the application to meet their daily financial needs,”
He disclosed that the mobile banking application provided easy access to a broad range of financial products tailored towards meeting consumers’ needs and at affordable rates.
Diamond Bank said the “Diamond Y’ello product is an account combining both financial and telecommunication services as well as loyalty scheme that active MTN customers (targeted mainly at mass market and youths) can conveniently subscribe to from their mobile phones in line with the CBN Financial Inclusion Strategy.
“Since the launch of this innovative proposition in August 2014 – first of its kind in Nigeria, over six million, four hundred thousand Diamond Y’ello accounts have been opened through the support from our partners, MTN, WWB (Women World Banking) and EFInA (Enhancing Financial Innovation & Access).”
