President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday directed that the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Edem Duke should also oversee the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information until a substantive Minister is appointed for the Ministry.
In a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sam Nwaobasi, the President’s directive followed the disengagement of Dr. Nuruddeen Muhammad, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who was overseeing the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information, and who is now the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, in the April 11, 2015Governorship election.
High Chief Edem Duke has since resumed his role as the supervising Minister of Information.
