The Edo State Government has declared today a work-free day to give workers in the state the opportunity to process, regularise or obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).
A statement yesterday by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, said: “Government workers are urged to partake in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) so they can perform their civic duty.”
He said with the notice, all government establishments except those rendering essential service were expected to be closed and take the advantage of the work-free day to visit the centres for the ongoing CVR to process or obtain their PVCs.
He said the state government was keen on ensuring that everyone in the state was provided the opportunity to participate in the political process.
