Some voters on Saturday in Abuja expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the general elections.
A cross section of the electorate, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the process was so far free, fair and credible.
They said some of the setbacks experienced were not substantial enough to discredit the exercise.
Chief Yunana Zhin, Village Head of Tupkeki in Kuje Area Council, said accreditation and voting went on peacefully at the Tukpeki Primary School polling centre.
According to him, “this shows that Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) properly prepared to ward-off poor performance’’.
On security, the traditional ruler said all the security agents gave their best, adding that their effectiveness beat people’s imagination.
“The security is tight here, there is no room for any foul play by any perpetrators,” Zhin said.
On his part, Mr Michael Opeyemi, said the sustained voter education was responsible for the peaceful turnout of the exercise.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to maintain the dignity shown on the elections day to deepen the country’s democracy.
Alhaji Abubakar Lado, All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate, said the exercise was satisfactory in spite of hitches recorded.
Lado is vying for Suleja/Gurara/Tafa Federal Constituency of Niger.
He said the electorate had demonstrated a strong will throughout the period in order to cast their votes.
“The process is good but not excellent. I think the process is good in spite of the few hitches which are tolerable.
“In some polling units the battery of the card readers automatically ran down and it took quite some time before the officials replaced it.
“Apart from the card reader issue, everything went well,’’ Lado said.
Meanwhile, Gov. Bala Ngilari of Adamawa has urged the electorate to avoid violence during and after the election.
He made the call after casting his vote at his Gari 1 polling unit in Madagali Iga of Adamawa.
Ngilari expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election, adding that the country had been vindicated. NAN
