The Governor of Enugu state, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has inaugurated a 5-man committee on resolution of land disputes and management in Ibagwa Nike, Enugu.
Speaking shortly before the inauguration, the Secretary to the State Government, Elder Gabriel Ajah who stood in for the governor enumerated the terms of reference of the committee to include ascertaining the numbers of Ibagwa Nike Community Lands and their Layout plans domiciled within Nike Council/Control Authority.
It also included the power of Attorney Holders and to manage same for and on behalf of the community and also to determine modalities and ensure equitable distribution of benefits to the indigenes of Ibagwa Nike, the community bonafide purchasers and the state government from revenue derived from the layout.
He explained that the committee will be determining the most effective methods of managing the layout and the proceeds and to attract investors and developers for greater economic development of Ibagwa Nike in particular and Enugu State in general.
According to the governor, the committee will take over the management of the following Ibagwa Nike Layout; Owelle Oshegu, Aguokpa, New Millennium, Royal Estate, New City, Trans-Oyioku and Freedom City, adding that the committee will be responsible for collecting, examining and managing documents (including registrations) and survey plans on all existing interests on those layouts.
Governor Ugwuanyi expressed the hope that the committee will proffer solutions towards ensuring that the layouts would be sources of revenue generations to the state government.
He charged the 5-man committee to deliver on the mandate to ensure that land disputes in Ibagwa Nike are resolved even as the present administration is committed to fostering peace and stability in the
state.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Surveyor Albert Edoga expressed appreciation for the opportunity given to them to serve the state and assured to work with integrity, commitment and openness as
nobody will be marginalized in the course of their service
He noted that with the cooperation of Ibagwa Nike Community, they will record a resounding success that will bring a turn around in the economy of the state.
