Enugu Governor reconstitutes members of State Judicial Service Commission

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has sworn-in four new members
of 7-member reconstituted State Judicial Service Commission with a charge to apply integrity in the discharge of their function.
The newly sworn-in members who are to serve with the three statutory members of the commission are Mrs. Selina Ugwuoke Adibuah, Barr. Chidi Nwoye, Victor Onyebuchi and Barr. Remigius Asogwa.
The composition of the commission has the Chief Judge of the State,
Hon. Justice Innocent Umezulike as Chairman, , the Ag President of the
Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice G.C. Nnamani and the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Miletus Eze as statutory members while the four sworn-in members are non-statutory members.
Governor Ugwuanyi while swearing-in the new members at the Government
House, Enugu, noted that the members possess “the competence, knowledge and integrity needed for the discharge of their functions effectively.”
He added that their reconstitution is in keeping with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Section 197(1) of 1999 as amended which provides for the establishment of the commission for each state.
He also enumerated that the functions of the commission according to section 8 of the Enugu State Judicial Service Commission Law Cap 60 is to among others “advise the governor in nominating persons for appointment as Chief Judge of the state and Judges of the State High
Court as well as the President and judges of the State Customary Court of Appeal.”
In his response, the Chief Judge of the State, Hon Justice Innocent Umezulike thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve and assured him that the members of the commission will deliver in a commendable manner not only to the state government but also to the people of Enugu state.
In his words, “Your Excellency, we thank you very much for your response to the need to have this commission constituted and I duly once more assure you that we will deliver in a very commendable manner.”
