A town hall meeting on provision of adequate drinking water for residents of Enugu state earlier proposed by Enugu State Government to hold within this month of June, 2016, has been postponed to a later date that would be announced in due course.
Although the plan to hold the critical town hall meeting within this month had been announced severally, this postponement has become imperative in view of on-going meetings and negotiations between the state government and some interest groups and business interests whose vital inputs are certainly central to the dynamics of the proposed town hall meeting.
Therefore, as soon as these preparatory talks and critical engagements are concluded, all the stakeholders required to attend the meeting would be informed accordingly and the much sought-after town hall meeting on provision of adequate drinking water for the residents of our dear state would hold.
In initiating the plan for a town hall meeting where relevant stakeholders would brainstorm on the knotty issue of inadequate supply of drinking water for the populace, the state government desires to tap from the suggestions and inputs of the critical stakeholders that would be assembled for the talk shop so as to arrive at ideal lasting solution to the problem.
Recall that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi recently announced a grant of N100m to the state Water Corporation to enable it to rehabilitate its broken down facilities and then, begin to meet the water needs of its customers.
On its part, the State Water Corporation has moved into action and set up a three-man committee to exhaustively work and give update on the state of the ailing facilities with a view to tackling the setbacks.
