Chairmen of the seventeen local government areas in Enugu State have declared that Peoples Democratic Party ward congresses did not take place in the state on November 1.
The deputy chairman of the party, Elder David Ajah, who was endorsed by the PDP National Working Committee as the acting chairman of the Enugu State Chapter of the party, had said that the congresses held.
Ajah, who belongs to the camp of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who is locked in battle for the control of the party with Governor Sullivan Chime, has released a list of delegates elected from the exercise.
But the Chief Ikeje Asogwa-led State Executive Committee, which is loyal to the governor, has maintained that the there was no congress in the state.
The confusion took another turn on Thursday as the 17 local council chairmen, who were all elected on the platform of the PDP, issued a joint statement, declaring that no ward congress held in the state as claimed by Aja.
The position of the local council chairmen was disclosed in a press release issued from the government house.
The local council chairmen, in the statement which they personally signed, explained that the congress failed to hold as a result of the non-arrival of the electoral materials and members of the electoral panel from the PDP headquarters, Abuja.
They stated that they and other party officials waited tirelessly from 7: 00 am to 7: 00 pm at the state party secretariat at No 1 Chime Lane, GRA, Enugu on the said date, for the arrival of the members of the National ward electoral panel and electoral materials, which they said never left Abuja for Enugu State. -Punch.
So Ekweremadu and Elder Ajah where lying all along. Na wa for these politicians. How can they be deceiving us to belive there was ward congress when there was nothing. Corruption! Ekweremadu is not going back to that Senate. rubbish.
