Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has urged the people to have faith in God and promote peace and harmony in all their endeavours, saying that nations with the fear of God often experience positive developments arising from agreeable government policies.
The governor made the comment at the launch of a book written by Rev. Father Emeka Chikezie Ngwoke.
The event held at St. Paul’s Catholic
Church, Ede-Oballa, Nsukka Local Government Area was also organized to commemorate Rev. Fr. Ngwoke’s 25 years as a priest.
He also charged the clergy, politicians, elder statesmen and the people to support his administration towards achieving its projects and policies, noting that the ultimate goal of governments is to alleviate people’s sufferings.
He explained that the book titled, “The Gospel and Church in Service of Society” would help spread the gospel across the state and beyond, adding that the author deserves everyone’s praises for the incisive work.
“Enugu State is in the hands of God and any nation that believes in God experiences positive development as all your entitlements would be given to you in due course,” he said.
The chairman of the occasion and the former Minister of Information, Chief Nnia Nwodo, praised the governor’s humility, diligence and fear of God evident in his simple leadership style.
Governor Ugwuanyi had, earlier on, witnessed the funeral rites of late
Mrs. Mary Uzor at Aku community, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area.
The council chairman, Hon. Malachy Agbo, described the governor’s
visit – the second to the area in three days – as an indication that he is a responsive leader who cares for the people’s welfare.
The bereaved, Chief Obinna Uzor, also showered encomiums on Governor
Ugwuanyi.
“You are a leader with a difference,” he said, commending him for the projects in the area such as the Opi-Nsukka dual carriage highway, among others.
“The people of the area would ever be grateful and remain solidly behind your administration,” he added.
