Gov. Amosun finally declares for Senate, to unveil successor today

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Wednesday laid to rest the speculation surrounding his interest in the senatorial seat as he formally declared intention to contest for Senate in the 2019 general elections.

Amosun, who spoke during a tension-soaked stakeholders’ meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta, debunked claims that he was afraid of direct primaries.

The governor also disclosed that his party would on Thursday (today) unveil the gubernatorial candidate that fly its flag in 2019 after a scheduled meeting with critical stakeholders from Ogun West senatorial district.

This came as Ogun APC resolved to adopt direct primaries in selecting the party’s candidates if consensus option fails.
