Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has reiterated his commitment to ensure that development gets to all areas of the state in line with the vision of his administration towards an equitable spread of infrastructure and socio-economic growth.
Governor Ugwuanyi who made the pledge at Nsukka while flagging off a street light project, noted that it was in keeping with his inaugural address’ promise “to upgrade and modernize Nsukka – a University town founded over half a century ago and the second largest town in Enugu State – to enable it compete with other University towns in attracting technology and knowledge-based businesses and other industrial support ventures”.
The governor added that the project was also consistent with the vision to “drive development to every corner of Enugu State and to work towards the creation of more urban centres in order to boost economic growth and improve the lives of our people”.
He disclosed that the installation of the street lights would complement the ongoing development programmes in the state including the construction of major roads and other important public facilities.
While urging the people to remain steadfast in their prayers for the progress of the state, the governor advised residents of Nsukka to protect the street lights and ensure that they serve their intended purposes.
In her remark, the Chairperson of Nsukka Local Government Area, Prof. Mrs. Rose Onah, applauded the governor for the milestone achievements in the state, saying that the street light project for Enugu North Senatorial district is the first of its kind in the history of the zone and prayed God to continue to give the governor the grace to do more for the entire state.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Vee-Tek Nigeria Limited, the company handling the project, Engr. Vita Abba, said that the project when completed will enhance the security of the area and help boost its socio-economic development. He assured the governor that they will deliver a high quality work and on time.
