Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, yesterday, stated that any uncompleted building discovered to be the hide-out of kidnappers would be demolished by the state government within 24 hours.
The governor, who stated this on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Nigerian Independence and 19th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State, urged owners of uncompleted buildings to mount security surveillance on them, so as to curtail the heinous activities of kidnappers in the state.
Umahi, who regretted the rising trend of kidnapping in the country, vowed to sign the death sentence of any suspected kidnappers found culpable of the crime.
On Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, the governor stressed that the state government would not tolerate any act of fraudulent practices by revenue collectors as anybody caught engaging in illegal collection of revenues would soon face jail term.
He further announced the state government would soon commence the construction of befitting houses for widows in the 171 wards across the state.
“The distinctive features of our approach to transformation, therefore, is to bring to our people modern features of development, establish conditions that will allow equity of opportunities, robust, moral and a spiritual strength, and genuine sense of brotherhood to thrive.”
