Angry mob beats alleged gay teenager to coma

The Islamic religious community police force in Northern Nigeria (Hisbah), established to enforce Sharia law, uphold public morals, and “enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong”, Friday, May 10th, 2024, apprehended two homosexuals having sex in a property at Suleja, Niger State.

According to the Hisbah leader in the region, Shehu Mohammed, the corps caught the two homosexuals, Wahab Ismael and Danladi Musa, having immoral intercouse in a property around Zuba main road at Suleja in Niger State.

According to Shehu, the two homosexuals had been handed over to the police for prosecution.

The Police Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) Mr. Yusuf Koganri confirmed to the media that the two homosexuals were in their custody.

Koganri added that the suspects confessed to being bisexual in the course of interrogation.

The Police DCO affirmed that one of the suspects, Wahab Ismael, confessed to having prior sexual relationships with one Usman Lookman and Shuaib Abdulfatah).

According to Koganri, the second suspect, Danladi Musa, confessed to being lured to the act by Wahab.

Meanwhile, the Police DCO has thanked the Hisbah group for apprehending the suspects promising that they would be charged to court.

He stated that their co-partners would also be apprehended and charged to court.

Koganri promised that the Police would leave no stone unturned in flushing out all homosexuals and criminals in the State.

He urged all homosexuals in the state to flee as soon as possible promising that the police would surely come after them, arrest and prosecute them.

Meanwhile, the fates of these two homosexuals and other homosexuals within and outside the state continue to hang in the air.

Since the passage of Nigeria’s anti-gay law, the Nigerian LGBTQ community has been subject to increasing violence and persecution, in addition to the danger of legal prosecution.

Some courts in the northern states have sentenced homosexuals to life imprisonment without option of fine.
