The Igbo-Etiti Stakeholders Forum has passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and resolved to adopt the governor as the sole candidate in the forth coming governorship election in 2019.
The forum, made up of the political, traditional, socio-cultural and religious leaders from the area, during its inaugural meeting for the year on Thursday, and under the leadership of Hon. Malachy Agbo, the Executive Chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA, at the Council headquarters, Ogbede, observed that the Governor had performed well as promised.
The members noted that the governor had fulfilled his pact and social contract with the good people of Enugu State in his many state-wide developmental strides which had rubbed off in the area in the many projects he had executed and was still executing in the area.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Malachy Agbo, in his opening speech enumerated the many sons and daughters of the local government the governor had found worthy for engagement in a manner that underscored his peculiar love for the area and its people.
He said “Whenever one looks at the administration of our dear Governor, the Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and the good work he is doing in the state and how he has been generously extending same to us here in Igbo-Etiti, we cannot but thank God for him. If you enumerate the number of appointments he gave to our sons and daughters, you will understand what we mean if we say the governor’s love for our people is no ordinary. So while we will continue to appreciate this, we have to most appropriately reciprocate this gestures by giving him our massive support come 2019”
To this end he called on the leaders to go home and continue to mobilize their people to come out en mass to register in the ongoing voters registration exercise.
He noted that his government had to get more machines to add to the existing ones in order to cover many more places within the period the exercise was slated to last.
Other speakers also showered encomiums on Governor Ugwuanyi, enumerating the many favours the he had extended to the area to deserve their praise and unalloyed support.
The forum thereafter in an unanimous Yes Vote, passed a vote of confidence on the Governor and also unanimously endorsed him for a second term in office after a motion to that effect was moved by Rt. Hon. Oke Nwoke, former member Enugu State House of Assembly, and seconded by Engr. Festus Ozoemena, a former Chairman of the council.
Meanwhile, the Igbo Etiti Council Chairman has announced the opportunity to engage sixty persons as Executive Assistants.
This amounts to three per ward to cover the twenty wards in the Local Government Area.
He therefore urged the leaders to nominate appointees, ensuring that equity and fairness were observed in the process.
