The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, yesterday said he will shake the country after the 2015 general elections with some revelations on the involvement of some Yoruba Obas in corrupt dealings during Abacha’s regime.
The first class monarch, who was speaking as a special guest at a public presentation of the book, “Corruption and Human Rights Law in Africa” by Kola Olaniyan also said he is in possession of some incriminating information as a former commissioner of police in charge of criminal investigation.
Oba Akiolu further stated, “The monarch that made the statement that I lifted oil during the Abacha regime will be shocked when I make certain revelations after the 2015 elections.
“I think he should cover his face in shame because as at that time he alleged that I lifted oil, I was still serving in the Nigerian Police and I wonder how I would have such time to be involved in the lifting of oil”.
The monarch also urged all Nigerians to forget the past, face the future with hope and strive to make the nation better.
According to him, for the country to overcome the Ebola Virus, insurgency and corruption challenges ravaging it, there is need for collective efforts by all and sundry.
The traditional ruler also insisted that no single person should be blamed for Nigeria’s woes because the development of the country requires collective effort to solve.
He said, “The problem is not caused by one person. Everyone must be close to the Almighty and see how to make things better.
“All hands must be on deck to assist the government to bring it to the end.
We should forget the past and face the future by contributing to the future of the nation”.
Earlier in his opening remark, Lagos-based Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, who also chaired the occassion, said because of the massive corruption in the continent, the fundamental human rights of the people had been severely infringed upon.
The lawyer also described as corruption the failure of the Federal Government (FG) to Carter for the Nigerian Soldiers who have been sent to fight terrorism in Borno State, which led to the protest staged by their wives.
He noted “This is a manifestation of the collapse of the Nigerian state.” Leadership
