Senator Andy Uba, Ms. Stella Oduah and Mrs. Uche Ekwunife have been cleared as the authentic Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidates for the three districts in Anambra State.
Following last week’s order by the Federal High Court in Abuja directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept the senatorial candidates list from the PDP, the commission has complied by clearing Senator Uba, Oduah and Ekwunife as the authentic candidates.
Prior to this, INEC had cleared Chief Chris Uba, John Emeka and Annie Okonkwo for the Anambra south, central and north senatorial zones respectively.
Commenting on the adjustment, the electoral commission noted that it acted in accordance with the court order, adding that in compliance with the Federal High Court order it has cleared Oduah, Ekwunife and Andy Uba for Anambra north, central and south respectively.
The Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Kayode Robert Idowu, told reporters at the INEC headquarters in Abuja yesterday, that since the commission is a law abiding institution, it had no choice than to obey court order.
“We have to obey the court order by clearing the candidates for the senatorial districts. We are law-abiding institution.” – Thisday.
